It's a New Day....

Rosa sat, so Martin could walk....

Martin walked, so Obama could run...

Obama runs, so our Children can Fly.

The day Chelsea learned in elementary school, the story about Rosa Parks and the bus, she came home terribly upset. She said, "Mommy, please tell me we didn't really treat people of another color like that, did we Mommy?" She could not even grasp that there was such a thing as segregation and racism. I remember she began to cry when I told her that was true and why it had happened.
Now, today, my child can fly and now I am the one to cry.

My sister Gina and I took our daughters to East Beach today, JANUARY 18th. It is 85 degrees. They are doing a happy dance!

Chelsea and Aunt Gina, always the posers!

And NO I'm not going swimming, unlike you Gina, I don't have my bathing suit ON!

While we were taking these pictures, this seagul and a few of his friends took our lunch!!!!

January Book Club

Now we don't always meet in our PJ's, however, these were a gift from Maureen at the Book Club Christmas Party and this was a great opportunity to wear them at my house. We had an awesome potluck and next month's book is
"He's not that into You".
Yikes!

Would you believe it is 85 degrees here today?

Now we know why they call this place Paradise.

The Rose Pruning Class

Today I attended a rose pruning class at our local nursery. I was the youngest one there.

I learned that there was a proper way to prune a rose bush and not the Edward Scissorhands method I have been using. I came home and have now shovel pruned a few of mine who now sit happily in the green waste container.

And some of the names these roses have, they even have one called "happy chappy". That one I just had to have. I plan on planting a few in the backyard soon and will keep you posted on their survival rate.

Oh and then there was the man with the dentures.

I need to find a new crowd.

Seventy two days and counting.....

til these wired contraptions are outta my mouth. I'm wearing double rubber bands now 24/7, and we find them everywhere.....at the office in file folders, in my car, and I know I've ingested a dozen or so too!

To be able to chew again....

Thank you, Bruce!

What a surprise.

This is a scrapbooker's dream tool! This machine cuts out all types and sizes of fonts and can make them up to 24 inches tall. I'm gonna have the best looking garage sale signs in town!

I guess I was a good Assistant this year!!

I can't believe I just said that....

but I did.

Aunt Joanne has new Man.....

A Snowman, that is. We have named him Mr. McFlurry. He is very soft and cuddly and doesn't say much.

Mom finds him adorable, especially the soft tufts of hair on the back of his head.
But then, while no one was watching,
McFlurry was found with another woman. We knew it wouldn't last.

Elephant Seals in Cambria/San Simeon

These elephant seals come every year at this time, to birth, mate and fight. The bigger males come down from Alaska.

Wendy and I borrowed these glasses from Elton John.

In this picture, there is a baby right in the middle of the picture.
