A Letter to Mum

A year ago today, we said goodbye.

It came so sudden and you slipped away so fast, there were things we wanted to say before you passed.

I was so blessed to have you as my Mom f0r 51 years, a loving Nana to my 3 children and present for all the milestones in my life. I am thankful for all the lessons I learned from you, and for your unwavering support and understanding during the times I went off course. I miss you terribly, but I know from all the little "signs" you leave for me that you are well. When I miss you the most, I just brew up a cup of tea and I know that during that moment you are thinking of me.



She always leaned to watch for us ,
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate

And though we mocked her tenderly,
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe
Because she waited there.

Her thoughts were all so full of us,
She never could forget!
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet.

Waiting till we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late,
Watching from Heaven's window,
Leaning on Heaven's gate.

I love you, Mom
Til we meet again, keep the kettle on.
